Guidance notes to musicians who wish to play at a Frakture Concert.
|
| INTRO |
- Read the following notes then fill in the Concerts Form .
- Please note the Frakture Concerts Series is run by a small team some of whom will not know you!
- Schedule: most bookings for Frakture Concerts work 3-6 months in advance.
|
| MONEY |
MONEY: Fees.
- There is very little money available for fees: by now you should be aware that this [free improvised music] is not a commercial activity: i.e. the audience does not pay your fee.
- You may have a touring grant, Frakture may have funding available for you fee: sometimes a mixture of both.
- Frakture currently does not use private money to subsidise your concert.
- Funding for our events varies.
- Door gigs:
- Frakture does not do door gigs [ door gigs = door money split between the musicians], we will not go through the indignity or lack of grace of dividing very small door takings between a number of musicians.
- We agree a fee; this fee is usually larger than the amount you would receive via "door gigs".
- Frakture are committed to maximising the fee for the musicians.
- Please indicate if your group has a fixed policy regarding money;
- only playing for a fixed non-negoatiable fee.
- only playing for muscians union rates.
- Therefore when filling in the above mentioned Concerts Form: the sections regarding fees you should indicate you have a realistic understanding of what may be involved regarding fees.
- Please indicate that you have a touring grant if you have one.
